Interesting perspective, haven’t heard it before. Engineers love to solve problems and when code works (ideally in production). Some devs told „I would write it myself faster“ but not that they would prefer writing it themselves simply because they like it. Writing code was always a tool for me to get the job done, solve the problem, make it work.
